Concannon Fitness Center
The Concannon Fitness Center provides 13,850 square feet of dedicated fitness space for our membership population, along with 3,600 square feet designated for varsity student-athletes. Members can find a variety of cardiovascular and aerobic exercise equipment, the majority with personalized entertainment screens, throughout both levels. Likewise, strength machines and free weights of varying fitness levels can be found upstairs and down, to meet the needs of all members. In addition, a 500 square foot reservable meeting space, a 750 square foot indoor cycling studio, as well as an observation room overlooking the athletic turf field, can be found on the second level.
Peterson Recreation Center
The Peterson Recreation Center is the hub of all intramural, athletic and recreational activity at Providence College . Open since 1980, the Center is available for use by all undergraduate students and those with a recreation membership. It is home to the Begley Arena, Cuddy Racquetball Complex, and Taylor Natatorium, along with locker rooms, an exercise and dance studio, and an equipment checkout area.
The Begley Arena is a multi-function all-purpose field house facility equipped with five interchangeable basketball/tennis/volleyball courts. Encircling the courts and intersecting the two outer courts, is a 1/8-mile, four lane indoor track.
The Cuddy Racquetball Complex has three courts with observation windows. Available court times may vary, conditioned upon the needs of the Providence College Racquetball Club Team. Please call (401) 865-2253 for court availability.
The Taylor Natatorium, located on the first level of the Peterson Recreation Center has a six-lane, 25-meter pool. The pool’s depth ranges from 4 feet to 12 feet. Adjacent to the pool are locker/shower facilities. The pool hours are posted at the Welcome Desk in the Atrium and are based upon the needs of the Providence College Swimming and Diving teams.
Locker Rooms, located on the main level, are equipped with men’s and women’s locker and shower facilities, which can be used on a daily basis. Locks, if needed, may be checked out from the Welcome Desk. Assigned locker space for faculty and staff use is available on a limited basis, for a minimal fee.
The Group Fitness Studio, adjoined to the Begley Arena, is home to the Recreational Sports Department’s Group Fitness Program as well as the Providence College Dance and Cheerleading teams’ practices. Inquiries regarding availability of the Fitness Studio may be made by calling (401) 865-2352.
Equipment Checkout, located in the Atrium at the Welcome Desk, is where members may check out any recreational equipment provided by the Peterson Recreation Center, free of charge. Valid Providence College Membership Cards must be presented when checking out equipment.
